¡Bienvenidos al mundo de español!
St. Thomas More students are introduced to Spanish beginning in kindergarten. Through weekly classes, the students learn the Spanish alphabet and pronunciation and a number of basic vocabulary units such as colors, foods, classroom objects, and more. Many activities reinforce skills being learned in the main curriculum, such as math skills with Spanish numbers. The students also have the chance to learn something about the culture of Spanish-speaking countries with units about major holidays and geography.
K-2 students have a variety of activities using storybooks, workbooks, games and realia. Third and fourth grade students have a textbook and workbook which will be kept at the school for classroom use for most of the time.
