Music - Grade 3

The Third Grade this year continues to work on singing, movement and playing instruments as a group and in November we began studying recorder. Students purchased recorders for their use in class and at home.  This year we will be studying the basic elements of music such as melody, rhythm, dynamics, tempo, texture and form. In addition we will be developing our skills at note reading as part of our recorder study. 

The use of the Orff barred instruments in thaeclass room is used to enhance the study of the recorder. and encourage study of harmony.   We are working on producing a beautiful sound on our recorder by using good technique as well as encouraging note reading and steady beat. 

In December of this year, in addition to our class work, we prepared a program of Christmas music to be presented at the Charles House in Carrboro.
