Welcome to the Music website.  This is a very exciting year here at STM.  We are building a new music and art building as well as a new gym and atheltic fields.  The STM church will also be adding a new multi purpose building.  The new music and art building should be ready in fall of 2010.
 
We continue to participate in the NC Symphony School Concerts and this year we are featured along with other schools in the US on the World's Largest Video.



 
Check your grade level for the exciting plans in music class this year. 


Our first focus for the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders this year was preparing for their visit to the North Carolina Symphony.
We went to Meymandi Hall in Raleigh on November 13, 2008, to hear the school edicational concert. ,
The focus at this year's concert was What Makes Music Music Around the World.
We studied composers from around the world and the musical concepts that were featured in their music.

Our Fourth and Fifth Graders played recorder with two other schools from the Chapel Hill School system that were attending.

Mass Music

Preparing for Mass 

In addition to teaching new mass songs to each class during music time, some of the classes also prepare for musical presentations during Mass.  Theses usually include the use of instruments to accompany the singing of the Mass hymns.
