NEWS FROM SISTER CATHERIENE
News from Sister Catherine
I am love my new ministry as Pastoral Associate here at St. Therese Parish in Wrightsville Beach, N.C. The ocean and the sound can be seen from my third floor office window! What do I do here?
- I journeyed with eight adults through RCIA, and I don’t know who was more excited at the Easter Vigil, they or me.
- I visit those who can no longer come to church, so church comes to them.
- I facilitate retreat days for the parish and am considered 'spiritual guide' for the Women’s Guild.
- I assist with funerals and communion service as needed.
- In addition, I am taking 6 high school students on a mission trip to Atlanta, GA in June before my trip.
I just wanted to extend to all of you again a HUGE THANK YOU for your parting gift last year. I have made plans to take a cruise for the first time. I will be cruising on the Seine River, beginning in Paris and traveling to Normandy. I saw the Viking Cruise advertized on TV and made plans to go June 26-July 4. Sister Elaine, my friend from Canada, will be meeting me in Paris to begin our trip. I have a DVD advertising the trip, so when there is nothing good on TV, I watch the DVD and get more excited about going.
Many blessing to ya’ll. Do come by and see our little church and great beach when you get a chance.
Sincerely in St. Joseph,
Sister Catherine Michael, S.S.J.

2012 USED BOOK SALE-CATHY ELMORE
St. Thomas More Catholic School held its 10th annual Used Book Sale April 19th, 20th, and 21st with chairwoman Cathy Elmore in charge. Ten years ago, Cathy brought her ideas, experience, and background in public relations to STM when she became a parent representative of the STM Library Board. She was the initiator and has been the drive behind the sale ever since, which brings in between $2,500 to $3,000 each year. Profits benefit the library and other areas of the school.
Growing up in Rochester, New York, Cathy was active in nearby library circles. Her first part-time job in junior high and high school was as a page at a local library, with responsibilities at the circulation desk and in shelving. Later, she handled public relations for the library, worked in news at a TV station, and after college worked as a PR person for a firm in Nashville, Tennessee. St. Thomas More School has been very fortunate in having Cathy, a dedicated volunteer, with us for ten years.
