Grading
7_8Math - Grading
- To determine a student's average use the following formula:
- Sum of all points received by student x 100 = student's average
- Sum of all possible points
· Grades will be based upon the following:
- Homework quizzes - Each quiz will be worth 10 points and there will be approximately 10 homework quizzes per quarter.
- Review Quizzes - There will be 2 - 4 review quizzes per week and each individual quiz will be worth 5 points.
- Weekly worksheets - Weekly worksheets usually are assigned each Wednesday and are due the following Wednesday. These worksheets are intended to review concepts already covered in class.
- Graded work - This may include projects, worksheets on material currently being covered, and computer lab exercises.
- Binders - Binders will be picked up on test days and graded to insure that the student is taking correct notes and keeping up with class assignments. Each binder check will be worth 20 points.
- Tests - Tests will be given at the end of each chapter and will be based on the objectives given to students at the beginning of the unit of study.
- Semester exams - These exams will be given in December and May/June. and will be comprehensive for that semester. The exception will be the Algebra I spring semester exam which will cover material from the entire year. For 7th graders, the semester exam is 10% of the quarter grade and, for 8th graders, it is 20% of the quarter grade.
- Conduct grades will also be determined on a point system. At the beginning of each half-quarter, each student will start out with a perfect conduct grade (50/50). Each time a student does not bring required supplies to class, talks out of turn, etc, points will be deducted from the conduct grade. This grade will count as the student's conduct grade and will also be averaged into the academic grade.
