All binders should be organized in the manner outlined below. Binders will be graded according to this organization.
Binders should be clearly marked with student’s name on the outside. Binders should be organized for math in the following manner:
*The first tabbed section should be labeled “Information.” This section should contain a sheet with all of your grades listed for the current quarter including date of assignment, title of assignment, and grade received/total possible points. (This sheet will be provided for you each quarter.) This section should also contain any letters to you or your parents.
*The second tabbed section should be labeled “Notes.” This section should contain all your notes for the current quarter. You will need to date and title your notes each day. For each unit of study, the first page of notes should be the unit objectives.
*The third tabbed section should be labeled “Daily Homework.” This section should contain your daily homework assignments that will be used for homework quizzes. Each daily homework assignment should contain the page numbers of the assignment and the problems assigned.
*The fourth tabbed section should be labeled “Weekly Worksheets.” This section contains the worksheets which usually are distributed on Wednesday and due the following Wednesday.
*The fifth tabbed section should be labeled “Quizzes” and should contain all returned and graded homework and review quizzes.
*The sixth tabbed section should be labeled “Graded Work” and should contain all graded work other than homework quizzes, review quizzes, and weekly worksheets. This section may contain daily worksheets, binder checks, project grade sheets, etc.
*The seventh tabbed section should be labeled "Tests" and should contain all returned tests.
It is important to keep your binder neat and up-to-date. It is an important resource to help you study for chapter and semester exams and to do well on homework quizzes. Binders will be picked up on test days and returned the following day.
All graded papers must have the following “heading” in the upper right hand corner of the page.
- First and last name
- Date (month, day, year)
- Class (e.g., Math 72)
- Papers without this correct heading will be penalized 10% of the grade.
