ART INFO
HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING IN ART
Congratulations to the six 5th grade students from last years' classes who won 6th place at the State Fair in mid October for their fabulous landscape tapestry weavings!!
We are so proud of you!! Keep on weaving!

We began this year in Art by using our STM theme
"The Three Trees" .
Art students in classes from PreK to the Middle School art elective have been drawing trees. We have been researching and closely examining the unique characteristics of trees in order to draw them. Some of the methods we have been exploring are: drawing from memory, drawing from direct observation, drawing together, gesture drawings of trees, and the cylinder method for trunks, limbs, and branches.
Please feel free to drop in the art room anytime and see the tree exhibits in the art room. Another way to view our trees is on Artsonia.
I will be putting more trees on the site very soon.

ARTSONIA
St. Thomas More School students share their artwork with the world on ARTSONIA, www.artsonia.com
Parents, please take time to view your child's artwork with them. You can also see what the other classes are doing in Art.
The Acrylic paintings by the Middle School elective artists are superb!!

STM students have their artwork the world's largest online kid's art museum. Anyone can view the STM school gallery online at: www.artsonia.com/schools/stthomas1
All of Artsonia's artwork is viewable online, and any teacher or parent can create an online gallery for their child or school. Artsonia provides several online features such as fan clubs, and personal guestbooks, as a way for families to encourage the creativity and imaginations of their young artists. In addition, family members can purchase keepsakes imprinted with the child's artwork, with Artsonia donating 15 percent of their annual product back to the school art program.
Parents, please visit the website often. If you are registered, Artsonia will notify you when your child has a piece of art published. If you are not registered please notify Mrs. Ives and she will help you register.
