Jim Murray, class of 1967, and former School Advisory Board chair is the recipient of this year’s 2017 American Cancer Society Volunteer Leadership Award which is awarded to one person once a year out of 2 million ACS volunteers! Mr. Murray is a life-long and active member of our parish community and alumnus of our school, as were his 2 daughters: Emily and Christine. Jim’s wife, Linda, worked in the Middle School office and his mother, Therese, is still an active parishioner.

Three St. Thomas More Catholic School alums are on the UNC Football roster this year: Andrew Moore, STM class of 2008, is a cornerback; Joey Mangili, STM class of 2008, is a punter and Thomas Moore, STM class of 2006, is a place-kicker. David Tyll taught all three while they were students at STM school. “They were all superb athletes when they were at St. Thomas More Catholic School,” he said. “It’s wonderful to see them achieving their dreams, but also being great role models – they are still supportive of the STM community and understand the importance of giving back.”
