Visitors

Amazon Adventure

Mr. Roger Harris has come to visit the children of 3B many times. He visits the Amazon at least once a year and has become such an authority that he even wrote a book entitled “The Amazon.” He always comes armed with wonderful slides and many interesting stories of his experiences to share with the students. In fact, he usually brings an artifact made by the natives of the Amazon area  for us to keep............and treasure!

Packer Pride

A famous annual visitor is Mr. Dick Capp. He used to play for the Green Bay Packers and his coach was the famous Vince Lombardi! Mr. Capp played in two Super Bowls. He wears this HUGE Super Bowl ring to commemorate the big game that the Packers won!

A Mountain Climbing Experience

Who is stronger than Superman, more courageous than the average person, and has set his feet on higher elevations than most people?
It is no other than Mr. Bennett who makes a point of visiting our classroom every year.

Mr. Bennett usually enters our 3B classroom carrying his extremely heavy backpack laden with all of his mountain climbing gear and a laptop filled with slides of his daring mountain climbing experiences.

Mr. Bennett , who was born and bred in the state of Washington, has not only climbed many of the mountains in the Pacific Northwest but has also led many of the expeditions! His greatest claim to fame is his attempt to summit Aconcagua, the highest mountain in South America (thus being one of the Seven Summits) and the second highest mountain in the world!

The children enjoy Mr. Bennett's amazing demonstration of the use of each piece of his mountain climbing equipment. He then continues to keep the class in the state of awe as he shows slides of his many expeditions, including that of Aconcagua. The children are always so impressed by all that Mr. Bennett has to share with them. His passion and enthusiasm of the sport of mountain climbing is clearly evident to all of us.

The children are always happy to know that although their time with Mr. Bennett in the classroom must come to an end, they can always visit him at the REI in Durham where he is the store manager.   What great fun it would be for mom and dad to meet Mr. Bennett...... and to climb the store pinnacle!

Mr. Bennett provides the children of 3B with an experience that will be remembered for a long, long time. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising if Mr. Bennett's presentations inspire some children even to the point of becoming mountain climbers themselves! Who knows? Perhaps one of the present 3B students will some day summit Aconcagua!

More to Come...........

Perhaps a few more folks will happen along the way throughout the year! One just never knows!
