2A Show & Tell

On the list below you will notice that your child has a day for “Show & Tell”. Items that are related to what we are studying are appreciated, as well as, items dealing with science and nature. I would like to ask you to discourage all items that have a violent connotation. One item may be brought or, if they choose, they may just do a “Tell”

1st & 3rd Friday - Boys                  2nd & 4th Friday – Girls

Birthdays

It has been my practice for all my many years of teaching to celebrate the children’s birthdays with a nutritious snack. You may bring in muffins, soft pretzels or create a fun treat with your child. The children eat their snack on the playground, so please, “NO CUPCAKES”. Summer birthdays may celebrate on the ½ birthday or in May; please let me know in advance when you choose.

Child of the Week

During the year, each child will have the opportunity to be our “Student of the Week”. Listed below are the dates I have matched with your child. These were chosen at random, so please feel free to change with another child if this causes a conflict. I will send a reminder notice a week before your child’s date is due, at that time, if you would send in a note as to what you have planned, I will add it to our schedule.

Some Ideas:

Monday: Bring in pictures of family and special interests mounted on a poster board

Tuesday: “Surprise Box”   I have a little box into which you and your child will put an item; then, you will write on a card 3 clues for your child to give to the class. The class then tries to guess. More details are in the box.

Wednesday: Join us for lunch at 11:45

Thursday: Send in a nutritious snack

Friday: “The Estimation Jar” Your child may bring in a number (between 25 & 100) of the same item to be placed in a jar. The class will then estimate how many are in the jar. For example: 35 pencils, 26 spider rings, etc. Then your child will share the items with their classmates, taking the remainder home.

Math- Subtraction and BEYOND!
Please help your child at home with our "Beat the Clock" math tests! We're working on subtraction now, and the children are happily earning their "ribbons" for each number. If you have flash cards at home, they are a fun and effective way to help your child learn math! Read More
