About Our Class

In class we have been studying about animals, plants, and habitats. If you travel with Travel Bear you will get to see some interesting places that we have discussed and located on our world map.

Travel Bear has traveled to many places including Barcelona, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, and 14 states in the U.S. this year. This year we expect to travel to more exciting places. Mrs.Ulam MAKES LEARNING FUN!

So, get ready for a trip with Travel Bear.

Units of Study

We will begin this year with a study of the senses.We will also learn about families and community. In the Fall we will study animals and their habitats and begin a study of trees and leaves. We will finish out year by learning about holidays in other countries.

We begin the new year by studying the Rainforest and the animals that live in that habitat. We will later study the units of weather, space, and rock and minerals.

We look forward to an exciting year in 1B!!!.

Visitors to 1-B

We have had lots of visitors to our classroom. The Museum of Science and Nature brought many animals to the classroom.The Jordan Lake Educational Rangers came to our classroom to present programs called "Tree Rings and the Tree Web of Life".

In January, we will be combining our study of animals and plants to include the study of the habitat of the Rain Forest. We will culminate the unit by purchasing a piece of the Rain Forest for each child. 

Service Projects

We begin the year by baking cookies for the Ronald McDonald House to help make their Thanksgiving Holiday more enjoyable.

We bake cookies for the Ronald McDonald House and we raise money for Scottie's Place, a camp for homeless children.

For Christmas, the children will collect art supplies for a camp for homeless children called "Scottie's Place." This organization provides a camp for homeless children from Raleigh and Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
